1.     Introduction

Welcome to the Christian Broadcasting Network UK (“CBN UK”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). The name CBN Europe is a ‘working name’ of the CBN UK Charity which represents all CBN’s ministry projects in the UK, Europe and Eurasia. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our websites (www.cbn.uk and www.cbneurope.com), our content, donation services, in-person events, and the CBN Prayer Hope Line.

By accessing or using our website or services, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

1.1          Charitable aims

CBN UK exists to advance the Christian faith and promote charitable works through media, prayer, and community outreach. Donations support our charitable programmes in the UK and abroad.

2          Charitable Donations

All donations to CBN UK are made voluntarily and are used to support our charitable activities [in the UK/and internationally]. CBN UK fundraises responsibly and will never use undue pressure or exploit vulnerability when seeking donations.

2.1          No Goods or Services in Return

Donations are gifts made without obligation. You will not receive goods or services in exchange for your donation.

2.2          Ministry Resources

From time to time, we may send donors free ministry resources (such as books, devotionals, or prayer materials) as a token of appreciation. These are:

  • Provided free of charge
  • Not conditional on donating
  • Available to all supporters regardless of donation amount
  • Low-value items that do not constitute a benefit under Gift Aid rules

2.3          Charitable purposes

Unless otherwise stated, donations will be used to support CBN UK’s general charitable purposes (see above). If you specify that your donation is for a particular appeal or project, we will apply it accordingly, or as closely as possible if that purpose has been fulfilled.

If you donated to receive specific goods or services: Please contact us (see contact details below) as your payment may not qualify as a charitable donation for tax purposes.

2.4          Fundraisers and agencies

Where we work with professional fundraisers or agencies, they act under written agreements in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice. They are required to identify themselves and the organisation they represent when contacting potential donors.

2.5          Refund Policy

We greatly value your support. Donations are normally non-refundable as they are voluntary gifts to support our charitable work. However, we will consider refund requests in the following circumstances and will always handle them promptly and fairly, in line with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.

2.5.1        Face-to-Face Fundraising (7-Day Cooling-Off Period)

If you donated or set up a regular giving commitment following a face-to-face meeting with a professional fundraiser (e.g., street or door-to-door fundraiser), you have 7 days from the date you agreed to donate to cancel and receive a full refund.

2.5.2        Errors or Duplicate Payments

If you:

  • Were charged incorrectly or twice by mistake
  • Made a payment in error
  • Were the victim of fraud or unauthorized use of your payment method

Please contact us immediately (see contact details below) and we will investigate and process a refund where appropriate.

2.5.3        Exceptional Circumstances

We may grant a refund on a discretionary basis where there is a compelling reason to do so, such as:

  • Severe financial hardship following a donation
  • Misunderstanding about the nature or purpose of the donation
  • Other circumstances where we believe a refund is the right thing to do

We will assess each request on a case-by-case basis in line with Charity Commission guidance.

2.5.4        Direct Debit Guarantee

If you donate by Direct Debit, you are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee offered by your bank or building society. This means:

  • You can cancel at any time by contacting your bank
  • If an error is made by us or your bank, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund
  • Full details of the guarantee are available from your bank or at [directdebit.co.uk]

2.5.5        Gift Aid and Refunds

If we have already claimed Gift Aid on your donation and issue you a refund, we must repay the Gift Aid to HMRC. This means the full amount returned to you will be your original donation only.

2.5.6        After We’ve Spent Your Donation

Please note that once your donation has been used to fund our charitable activities, we may not be able to recover those funds. However, we will always consider your circumstances and respond fairly.

2.5.7        How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us at the contact details provided below.

Please provide:

  • Your donation date and amount
  • Payment reference or transaction ID
  • Reason for your refund request

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 10 working days.
